Aramco joined the Michigan Science Center (Mi-Sci) kicking off its Traveling Science Program for the 2025-2026 school year.

Hundreds of families gathered for the event featuring live science demonstrations and hands-on activities. Aramco’s van will travel beyond the Detroit-based Center to counties throughout Michigan’s Lower and Upper Peninsulas and the neighboring states of Ohio and Indiana.

“The aim is to engage as many people as possible in science and meet people where they are, bringing a universe of exploration and discovery directly to schools, libraries, and community centers,” said Christian Greer, president and CEO, Michigan Science Center.

Aramco’s Traveling Science Program contributes to the Center’s mission to expand its educational programming to audiences across the state. It also raises our profile in the region and aligns with our commitment to STEM education and innovation with Aramco’s Research Center-Detroit located in the nearby suburb of Novi.

Detroit researchers Farah Ramadan, lab scientist, and Abdallah Hamad, engineer, represented the company both saying it was an exciting time and chance to engage with visitors to tell them about their work and how subjects such as science, engineering, and math influenced their career choice.

Rockets, liquid nitrogen, and instant snow

During a two-hour period, researchers met about 200 kids between the ages of 5-10 years old excited to receive Aramco giveaways and free admission tickets to the museum for that day.

“The station with the Aramco Traveling Science van drew the biggest crowds,” said Ramadan. “It featured exciting experiments with rockets, liquid nitrogen, and instant snow.”

What began in 2012 has grown into a dynamic regional education program. The Mi-Sci’s Discovery Dome portable planetarium, launched during the 2022-2023 school year, has quickly become Aramco Traveling Science's most requested program.

The regional STEM Hub is a Smithsonian affiliate and inspires nearly 250,000 curious minds of all ages each year. The Michigan Science Center was ranked third this year on USA Today’s 10 Best Science Museums in the U.S. list.
