Galveston Bay’s waters, wetlands, and wildlife are cleaner and safer thanks to the support of Aramco, Motiva, and SABIC volunteers. In August, more than 70 dedicated employees and their guests removed 809 pounds of litter and marine debris from the shoreline, one of the region’s most visited coastal areas.

The Texas City Dike stretches more than five miles into Galveston Bay. It is a popular recreation spot and a critical barrier that helps shield communities and habitats from storm surge. The event reflects a broader commitment to invest in conservation, environmental education, and sustainable solutions across the Galveston Bay region.

“Galveston Bay is the heartbeat of Texas,” said Elisa Medina O’Neal, Volunteer Manager Galveston Bay Foundation. “We are all more connected to it than we know. Marine debris erodes our connection to this life-sustaining place.”

Cleanup & Collaboration

Preservation efforts are essential to maintaining the health and beauty of the Texas City Dike, a unique coastal resource. More than two dozen volunteers joined from Aramco affiliates. Employees enjoyed the cleanup and the collaboration.

“I am here with Aramco, SABIC and Motiva on the shoreline of Texas City picking up trash,” said Umair Chohan, Procurement & Supply Chain Management. “We have to keep the shoreline beautiful for all the visitors. I feel proud to be part of Aramco and know that I am helping the community.”

Longstanding Partnership

Galveston Bay Foundation and Aramco Americas have sustained a partnership for more than 15 years. The tradition continued with the large-scale shoreline cleanup at the Texas City Dike in August.

“Aramco’s long-standing support has played a critical role in our mission to preserve and enhance Galveston Bay,” said Bob Stokes, President of Galveston Bay Foundation. “Their employees continue to show up with energy and dedication year after year, and we’re incredibly grateful for this powerful partnership.”

Coming Up: Galveston Bay Foundation’s Prairie Grass Planting

Aramco Americas will continue its environmental stewardship on December 3. Volunteers will plant prairie grass to help prevent soil erosion, enhance water filtration, and provide habitat for native wildlife. By volunteering, employees will contribute to the restoration of coastal prairies, which plays a crucial role in protecting the Galveston Bay watershed.

Both initiatives support environmental conservation and the local ecosystems, ensuring a healthier future for the region.
