Researcher’s journey inspires STEM education

Aramco Americas has joined other leading companies as a funding partner of the Million Girls Moonshot, a national initiative to engage millions of more girls in STEM education.

Recently, Ebun Andrew, petroleum engineer, Aramco Americas Research & Development, participated as a keynote speaker at the “Lights on Afterschool” event in Providence, Rhode Island. Hosted by the Rhode Island Afterschool Network through Million Girls Moonshot, the event emphasized the importance of STEM in afterschool and summer programs. It was attended by educators, youth program leaders, employment partners, and local and state leaders at the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket.

Andrew spoke about her experience as a woman interested in STEM subjects and the journey that has led her to a successful career.

Rhode Island Lt. Governor Sabina Matos presented a proclamation for “Lights on Afterschool Day” to reinforce the value of afterschool programs, especially those focused on STEM.

Aramco Americas participation in the Million Girls Moonshot helps increase public awareness of out-of-school time as an opportunity to pursue additional learning. The Moonshot initiative has already reached more than 2 million girls, 3 million youths, and 200,000 educators to date.
