Aramco's support for the OurEcho Challenge, a STEM competition empowering students to take a closer look at biodiversity in their communities, is now in its third year with the program expanding to students in the UK. The competition is open for entries until March 3, 2023.
The OurEcho Challenge is a STEM competition that empowers students to take a closer look at biodiversity in their communities. Students will first identify threats to local ecosystems and then propose solutions to help preserve, protect, or repair those natural resources.
“This year, the OurEcho Challenge expands to include youth teams in the United Kingdom, who along with their counterparts in the United States will turn their passion for the environment and science into action plans in their own communities," said Philippe Cousteau, founder of EarthEcho International. "This growing youth movement to protect and restore the diverse species and habitats that make life on earth possible inspire all of us to take action for a healthy and prosperous planet."
In April 2023, EarthEcho selects finalist teams in both the US and the UK to compete for project grants funded by Aramco in each country to turn their ideas into reality.
Since its inception, OurEcho Challenge participants in the U.S. have removed 2,261 invasive species and 403.29 kilograms of litter, raised and/or planted 4,141 native species, and restored 3,582.4 square meters of habitat.
