Aramco Americas is supporting the City of Houston in its efforts to address the challenges of the coronavirus with a $500,000 donation to fund mobile testing for vulnerable neighborhoods.

Operated by the Houston Health Department, the mobile unit is free of charge and provides easy access for community members.  It will rotate through vulnerable neighborhoods over the next several weeks.

“Aramco has made it a point to step up for Houston's community during good times and challenging ones, and their donations – coming during a crisis of unprecedented scale – are needed support for our medical response and first responders,” said Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

Aramco is also recognizing city first responders and healthcare officials with a $100,000 “Our Houston Heroes” campaign.   Aramco is donating a total of 1,000 grocery cards to the Houston Health Foundation that will distribute them to responders working for the Houston Police Department, the Houston Fire Department, and other city workers on the front lines taking care of people.

On April 17, Aramco sourced and delivered 30,000 KN95 masks, a critical-need item, to the city for use by its first responders.

Aramco's donation of funds and grocery cards are being administered by the Houston Health Department and the Houston Health Foundation, respectively.

“We are pleased to call Houston home and contribute to efforts that will make a meaningful difference for the medical response and the first responders who are on the frontlines,” said Mohammad S. Alshammari, President & CEO, Aramco Americas.  “As part of our long-standing commitment, we will continue to look for ways to support all those who work tirelessly for the Houston community.”

During Hurricane Harvey in 2017, the company supported recovery through volunteerism and major donations to the city's relief fund, schools, shelters, and housing initiatives.

Information about how and where to get tested for COVID-19 in Houston, including the mobile unit, is available at HoustonEmergency.org.

Aramco's donations to address the coronavirus are part of the company's global relief effort and, in the U.S., are centered around efforts to provide food security and support the medical response.
