Leading the Global Energy Evolution was the theme for this year’s Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) to illustrate the role the offshore industry plays within the energy transition.

Aramco’s presence showed how the Company is taking a pragmatic approach to improving efficiency, and phasing in new energy technologies as they become feasible and economically competitive.

Aramco’s offshore program supports some of the largest fields in the world and with a strong commitment to research and development the company continues to innovate and advance upstream operations while working to lower its carbon footprint.

On display were in-house developed technologies, including Aramco’s mobile carbon capture for commercial long-haul trucks, a subsurface robot and a suite of advanced drilling chemical technologies.

Attendees flocked to the company’s exhibition booth to see new technologies and attended Aramco technical paper sessions.

In addition to the upstream technologies, Aramco’s mobile carbon capture for commercial long-haul trucks was presented as well as the Turbulent Jet Controlled Compression Ignition (TJCCI) Engine both developed from Aramco’s engines and fuels program with involvement from our researchers at the Aramco Research Center-Detroit.

“Aramco’s R&D ecosystem feeds directly into value creation for Saudi Aramco operations,” said Mohammed AlAskar, R&D director, Aramco Americas.

R&D is driving new technology deployment into the field. Through our partnerships with academia, national labs, and small to mid-size technology developers, we provide further value by lowering the barrier to entry for piloting new technologies.

For a fifth consecutive year Aramco sponsored OTC’s Energy4me Teacher STEM Workshop for local area science teachers featuring a one-day workshop with topical lectures, classroom materials, and an exhibit hall tour.

Set against the backdrop of this global premiere energy conference, Aramco Americas celebrates its 50th anniversary of calling Houston home. The company’s 50th anniversary theme: “Houston. There’s great energy here” resonated with many attendees as the city is home to more than 4,700 energy-related firms familiar with Aramco not only for its energy industry leadership but also for its corporate citizenship and philanthropy.

OTC estimates 31,000 plus attendees at this year’s conference.
