Aramco Celebrates 20 Years as Title Sponsor of the Houston Half Marathon

This year, Aramco celebrates 20 years as title sponsor of the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Thousands of runners are set to race the fast, flat course across city streets during Houston Marathon Weekend, January 12-14, 2024. Other races include the marathon and the We Are Houston 5K, which Aramco co-sponsors.

Overall, the marathon and half marathon typically attract more than 250,000 runners, volunteers, and fans, making Race Day the largest single-day sporting event in Houston.  Aramco’s own 180 volunteers will distribute water and present medals to runners, as well as participate in the Health & Fitness Expo at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Houston Marathon Committee reports the city will receive a 51-million-dollar economic benefit due to the influx of activity.

Fast Fact: In 2007, Ryan Hall sent shockwaves through the running community with his barrier-breaking 59:43 time to become the first U.S. man under 60 minutes, setting an American and North American record at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon.  A record that remains unbroken.

Next Generation of Runners

For the second year, Aramco is supporting the We Run Houston after-school running program designed to promote fitness and wellness. Teachers and volunteers train approximately 750 local students to run the half marathon or the 5K, with Aramco providing running shoes and athletic apparel.

Committed to the Community Program

Aramco took an extra step to mark the 20th anniversary as sponsor of the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Twenty charities received a contribution from Aramco's Committed to the Community program.
