It’s where records are broken and for more than 20 years, Aramco Americas has shown its commitment to Houston through its title sponsorship of the Aramco Houston Half Marathon. Held every January, the 13.1-mile race draws more than 15,000 participants from around the world — from recreational runners to elite athletes capable of chasing records. It is one of the largest half marathons globally and Houston’s single biggest sporting event, with the fast, flat course providing world-class performances ahead of Olympic trials. Since 2019, we have extended this support by co-sponsoring the We Are Houston 5k.
Each year, hundreds of our employees, friends, family members, and retirees join the effort; volunteering at water stations, presenting medals to participants, or even lacing up their own running shoes to raise funds for local causes. The Houston Marathon Committee estimates Houston Marathon Weekend generates more than $50 million in economic benefit for the city, annually.
We also support We Run Houston — an after-school running program which provides running shoes, athletic apparel and training for approximately 750 local students annually. The program introduces children to the benefits of running while building teamwork, discipline, and confidence, as they prepare for their big finish-line moment at the half marathon or 5k.
